ISLAMABAD Another Pakistani newspaper on Wednesday appreciated Iran and Iraq for improvement of their relations.
"This development (Iran-Iraq thaw) is particularly welcome for the Muslim world, for these two countries have been at war for almost eight years, a war that had no victor other than the world's arms dealers," Frontier Post daily said in its editorial.
"In the last 10 years, especially after Iraq's defeat at the hands of the so-called allies, the insanity of Iran-Iraq confrontation has become all too apparent," the daily said.
It added: "Iran showed maturity and prudence by maintaining a neutral stance during the Persian Gulf War." Referring to the recent improvement in bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad, the daily said the two nations are following a gradualist road toward normalization.
"The Muslim leadership is now on test.
It ought to work energetically to bring Iran and Iraq together to strengthen the common cause," the daily added.
